STEERING COMMITTEE

The Steering Committee is comprised of individuals elected at large, reflecting a variety of backgrounds and Illinois regions. Nominations are made in spring and the slate is approved at the committee’s mid-year retreat during the statewide conference. The Steering Committee is responsible for creating and monitoring a yearly work plan, overseeing the work and staff of the ICSHC, and assisting the Illinois Maternal and Child Health Coalition on matters of financial development, guiding program development and coordinating fundraising and public relations activities.

 

 

 

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION

The purpose of the committee is to support the efficacy of the school health center model through program development and evaluation.  The committee is currently working to organize disseminate best practices and a prevention manual, improve data collection and analysis from the state, pilot a new risk assessment tool, and carry-out trainings obtained from a state-national partnership with the National Assembly for School-Based Health Care.

 

 

Public Education and Advocacy Committee

The purpose of the committee is to advocate at local, state and federal levels on behalf of school health centers, to increase awareness of school health centers and the school health center model through public education, and to develop the advocacy skills of ICSHC members.  The committee has organized events such as Advocacy Days in Springfield, student contests, School Health Center Awareness Month and has developed an advocacy tool-kit for ICHSC members.

 

 

Conference Planning Committee:

This committee organizes the annual statewide school health center during the spring. Breakout sessions and presenters are selected by the Committee in order to offer attendees professional development, technical assistance and training, networking opportunities, and advocacy skills.
